The 100 Story Hotel – Schools Visits

Join us at Z-arts for an unforgettable interactive world of storytelling in a Story Hotel!

Our latest world is themed on the stories & characters by author and illustrator extraordinaire Rob Biddulph!

Welcome to the 100 Story Hotel, a stay you won’t forget in a hurry!

Meet one of our Story Investigators, listen to the tales of the 100 Story Hotel then have fun exploring the interactive spaces to see if you can solve the mystery!

Whilst at Z-arts children will be encouraged to explore and play, to inspire their imagination and creativity.

Your school can book a specifically designed creative workshop with us to bolster their children’s learning through creative activities that involve moving, listening, speaking, and creating. We follow the English and Drama curriculum for EYFS, KS1 & KS2.

Choose from Drama & Storytelling OR Arts & Crafts.

Our creative workshops all take inspiration from Rob Biddulph stories!

Learning outcomes:

  • Use movement and sound to explore characters in a story
  • Think creatively about their own character ideas
  • Imagine a new way to develop the story
  • Develop listening skills
  • Take on other children’s ideas and work together
  • Build confidence in sharing ideas to the rest of the class
  • Have a sense of pride in learning
  • Have fun learning literacy through play!

Drama & Storytelling workshops by learning stage:

EYFS – ‘Happy Hatchday’ – in this workshop children will learn about topics such as what it means to be inclusive, why it important to try new things and make new friends. The workshop will focus on character exploration and development, and how we can create our own story and plan our own party with our friends! They may even be a disco!

KS1 – ‘Blown Away’ – this session will be all about adventure! Thinking about what makes a good adventure story, imagining lots of places, and travelling in different ways and what do we need to take with us?

KS2 – ‘Grrrrr!’ – Taking the theme of The Bear Olympics from the story, children will work in groups to think up their own ideas for an unusual Olympics, what would they include? What would be the purpose and who would it be for? This workshop is all about teaching the children about trying your best, building your resilience and giving things a good go!

OR…

Creative Art workshop suitable for EYFS, Ks1 & Ks2 – Odd Dog Out

Listen to the story, think up ideas and get making! After listening to the very lovely Odd Dog Out story, children will be invited to think about their own uniqueness and what makes them special! Then they will make their very own dog puppet! This workshop will fuse storytelling and making, and children will have something to remember the day by. It is suitable for all ages but adaptable for EYFS, KS1 & KS2.

Learning outcomes:

  • Listening skills
  • Think about the importance of individuality & uniqueness
  • Following instructions
  • Sharing tools and equipment
  • Mark making & drawing
  • Using scissors
  • Progressing collage skills for decoration
  • Have a cute puppet to keep!

We have designed some wonderful extension activity booklets –

  • Each child gets their own copy.
  • The booklets will be started in the creative workshops.
  • Take them back to class, building on your visit by using them to inspire the curriculum back in school.

The 60-minute experience inside the interactive world promises to be a playful, problem solving and a unique learning encounter for Primary aged children in EYFS through to KS1.

  • School visits can be booked for a 10am start (arrive 9.45am) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in term time.
  • Visits last 60 minutes for the interactive experience alone OR make more of a day of it by staying for a creative workshop too. The combined experience and creative workshop package lasts 2.5 hours and you are welcome to stay afterwards and eat your lunch too.
  • All sessions can be adapted for children with SEND.
