Z-arts to launch Hulme is Where the Art Is

A post-van in the park, a bears tepee camp and animal photo booth await Manchester audiences this Summer for the sixth annual Hulme is Where The Art Is

Hulme is Where the Art Is 2016 is a partnership between Z-arts, Hulme Community Garden Centre, Venture Arts and MMU. Now in its sixth year, the free festival celebrates Hulme’s vibrant community and gives local residents a chance to get together and enjoy the rich diversity and culture of their neighbourhood. This year the theme will be bear’s, with picnics, storytelling bear hunts and lots more bear inspired activities taking place right across Hulme, throughout the Summer.

Z-arts will be launching the festival on Friday the 3rd May with The Last Post, an intimate performance in Hulme Park which takes place in a mobile sorting office.

Audiences are invited to step on board a Mobile Sorting Office, a bright red Luton van and be transported to a world where snail mail reigns supreme. The pillar-box red van is brimming with vintage paraphernalia from a much-travelled life, with a thousand items of real mail.

Alongside the show there will be free activities in the park including postcard writing taking place before and after both performances. Come along and join in, write a postcard to your favourite teddy bear from inside the mobile sorting office.

With such an eclectic mix of activities for everyone to get involved in, we can’t wait to see you there!

Commissioned & produced in partnership with Venture Arts & Hulme Community Garden Centre.
