Manchester’s cultural venues join together for Family Spectacular at Central Library

Act out your favourite scenes from a book on HOME’s green screen, make your own animation with Into Film, discover your artistic talents with The Whitworth and get ready for a Bear Hunt with Z-arts.

This May a collection of the best arts and cultural venues from across Manchester will come together for the very first time to showcase the cities cultural offer for children and families.

The venues will be hijacking the Manchester’s Central Library’s Saturday Spectacular on Saturday May 21st 2016 12-4pm to bring you an afternoon of free family fun from 12-4pm.

From 12pm you can act out your favourite scenes from a book on HOME’s green screen, try your hand at making an animation with Into Film, join Manchester Children’s Book Festival for some poetry and storytelling, marvel at the historic objects from Manchester Museum, get crafty with the People’s History Museum, uncover your artistic talents with The Whitworth and get ready for going on a bear hunt with Z-arts.

All this in four hours and even better it’s all FREE. No need to register just come along and get inspired.

Family Arts Networks are an initiative of the Family Arts Campaign. Manchester’s Family Arts Network is a group of venues from across Manchester that are collaborating to ensure that all Manchester families can get involved in creative events and activities.

The Network has expanded to include 23 venues and for the Family Arts Festival 2015, over 70 events across 24 days.  Events include storytelling, dance, music, theatre, visual arts, digital and films – so there really is something for everyone.

Z-arts is the lead venue for the Manchester network which includes: Central Library, National Football Museum, Hallé, HOME, Into Film, Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Museum, Manchester Literature Festival and Children’s Book Festival, Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester International Festival, Royal Exchange Theatre, The Edge, The Whitworth.
