Z-arts becomes a member of the Independent Theatre Council and achieves Approved Ethical Manager status
The Independent Theatre Council represents, supports and develops the professional performing arts in the UK. The community of over 400 companies and producers includes peers spread across the UK working in drama, dance, opera and musical theatre, mime and physical theatre, circus, puppetry, street arts and mixed media.
The ITC exists to enable the creation of high quality professional performing arts by supporting, representing and developing those who manage and produce it.
As an ITC member Z-arts recognise:
- That the performing arts have the power and potential to change lives and should be available to the many not the few.
- That the performing arts thrive when people are put before profit.
- The value of belonging to a community of performing arts professionals sharing and learning together.
As a new member of the Independent Theatre Council and part of the Approved Ethical Managers network the Z-arts team all share the beliefs that good art thrives on good management.
Commenting on the new status, Z-arts CEO Liz O’Neill states: “We’re delighted to join this community of professionals and continue to provide high quality, imaginative art to the widest possible audience. as we increasingly commission artists and companies as well as producing our own work, it became imperative that we join ITC to make sure we represent the best possible practice when it comes to supporting artists.
As Manchester’s venue for children and families we pride ourselves on providing a welcoming, vibrant and safe environment for the whole family to enjoy and this goes for our staff too who through the new membership now have access to unlimited to a range of tailored professional development opportunities.”
