Z-arts is happy to announce it’s new partnership with Manchester Musical Youth (MMY)!

“The most professional youth musical theatre youth group in the North West. They take the most talented young performers and offer them the chance to develop & grow whilst offering back to their community!” –MMY parent

Manchester Musical Youth (MMY) is a new theatre company for young performers brought to you by an established, experienced and successful artistic team, with a track record of creating the very best in youth theatre productions such as Les Miserables (2013), Footloose (2013), Sweeney Todd (2014) and The Phantom of the Opera (2014) to name but a few.

Our aim is to bring together, encourage and develop the most talented young performers throughout the Greater Manchester area so that they can experience the highest, most professional standard of musical theatre outside the west end. We strive for excellence in every aspect of our productions and believe that age is no barrier to quality.

The weekly workshops will primarily focus on the Acting, Singing and Movement disciplines in a supportive and exciting environment in order to stretch, challenge and build on the amazing talent that our company members bring. Our members will also gain a valuable educational experience too; learning vocal and performance skills but also a wider understanding of music, theatre and the themes and issues in our productions. These skills will not only dramatically improve their performance standard, but also supports their academic development and most importantly builds their confidence and self-belief.

The directed workshops will be aimed towards producing two full-scale professional-standard shows a year, as well as building on repertoire and individual skills, which company members will have the opportunity to share at one off events, concerts and charity fundraisers.

The team is also keen to encourage company members to engage with the community by supporting and building partnerships with local organisations, businesses and charities to enhance member’s performance experience and also share our enjoyment of musical theatre with those that benefit from it the most.

Workshops take place on Fridays 6-9pm at Z-arts.

Kimberly Holden was again at the helm of the music and what a splendid job, the orchestra sounded terrific and kept the flow and movement of the show in check. Kimberly has certainly proved she’s a grafter… to achieve the sound created by the youth ensemble, tackling the difficult choral music associated with this show is no mean feat! Congratulations.”

This was a solid production from start to finish, Director Dan Jarvis has staged a striking production… This is a unique theatrical experience made all the more impressive being performed by such young talent in a story that will make you laugh as well as cry and will give you something to discuss and remember after the show is long over.”
