Hot Mikado

The award winning creative team of Manchester Musical Youth are back!

After their sell-out success of Jekyll and Hyde in March, they will be bringing some high energy song and dance this summer in their next production, Hot Mikado!

East meets West head-on in this hilarious 1940’s-style update of a Gilbert and Sullivan favorite. Featuring an intoxicating mix of styles and influences, classics such as A Wand’ring Minstrel I and Three Little Maids are transmuted into show-stopping blues, swing, hot gospel numbers and scorching torch songs. Find out what happens when the clean lines and color of Japanese design combine with the big band sights and sounds of popular American song and dance!

This was a solid production from start to finish, Director Dan Jarvis has staged a striking production… This is a unique theatrical experience made all the more impressive being performed by such young talent in a story that will make you laugh as well as cry and will give you something to discuss and remember after the show is long over.
