Z-arts is committed to supporting the development of artists and their work.
This page is our Artist Workshop page, where we will list all the workshops taking place at Z-arts for artists to be able to book on to.
Some of these workshops will be paid for, other will be free to attend. If you wish to attend one of the workshop that costs money to book and you circumstances mean you’re unable to pay for the space, that is totally fine. We have bursary places available for artists. Information for how to get a bursary place at any of the paid workshop will be listed under the t’Cost’ section of each workshop.

Early Years Dance Choreography with Takeshi Matsumoto

1:00pm – 4:30pm
Workshop Content:
What tools can be used to choreograph dance performances for early years groups? How do material and materiality inform the body—and how can the body inspire playful interaction with materials to shape the creative process?
Informed by contemporary dance, Dance Movement ‘Pscyhotherapy’, and early years practice, this workshop invites participants to explore the “ingredients” for creating dance performances for children and young audiences. These insights have been gathered by Takeshi’s working with and for neurotypical and neurodivergent children nationally and internationally over the last two decades.
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement.
Target Audience (Participants):
It is aimed at artists and practitioners who are interested in making performances for children. No previous dance experience required.
Workshop Length:
3 and a half hours
Cost:
£25 per person. However Please don’t be put off by price. We have bursary places available for it!
Our Experience of Creating a Children’s Show with Adam Blake and Alicia McKenzie

3:30pm – 5:30pm (6:00pm – 7:00pm – Grandad Anansi Show at Z-arts)
Workshop Content:
Join recently commission artists Adam Blake and Alicia McKenzie for an evening workshop as they share their insights into the creation process of their two new shows. As part of booking the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to see an award winning show after the workshop as well. The workshop and complimentary ticket are all included together in one package.

It is aimed at artists and practitioners who are interested in making performances for children.
Workshop Length:
2 hours – followed by a free ticket to see Grandad Anansi at Z-arts
Cost:
Free to attend – accompanied by a complimentary ticket to see ‘Grandad Anansi‘. 1 comp per workshop ticket booking. Attendees must attend the workshop tom receive their comp for ‘Grandad Ananasi’.
