Crown: World Afro Day Exhibition
No need to book, just turn up and have a wander round!
Crown: World Afro Day Exhibition is a large photographic exhibition embracing the afro hairstyle as a symbol of pride and empowerment. Running from September to November at Z-Arts in Manchester, it is open to the public and features young black models from Manchester and Liverpool, to foster a sense of pride in the next generation.
In recent years, World Afro Day has been celebrated as a global commemoration of African heritage and cultural identity, and presents an extraordinary opportunity to honour and elevate the significance of the afro hairstyle. This annual event stands as a testament to the resilience, diversity, and richness of the African diaspora.
With a profound commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, World Afro Day aims to challenge stereotypes and break down societal barriers surrounding afro-textured hair. By celebrating its unique beauty and historical importance, we foster a world where all individuals can embrace their authentic selves without fear of discrimination or judgment.
Together, we rally behind the spirit of unity, embracing the afro hairstyle as a symbol of pride and empowerment for all. By fostering a global dialogue and fostering understanding, World Afro Day paves the way for a world that celebrates diversity and recognizes the beauty in every individual’s unique heritage.
