South Manchester AOS, the company who brought ‘OLIVER!’, ‘GYPSY’, ‘GREASE’, ‘CHICAGO’ and ‘PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT’ to the Z-ARTS stage are back to celebrate their 70th anniversary with this epic Broadway fairytale.
First staged on Broadway in 1980, ‘42nd Street’ was named “Best Musical” at the Tony Awards.
Its original London production, whose cast included a young Catherine Zeta-Jones, won the Olivier award for best musical.

To mark their 70th anniversary, South Manchester AOS are bringing their spectacular version of this ‘song and dance fable’ to our stage which is set to delight audiences once again with its timeless tunes and spectacular dance routines. The show brings together a backstage story where an unassuming chorus girl steps in for the leading lady – stepping out onto the stage as a youngster, and “coming back a star”.
One of the shows lead character’s puts it best when he describes musical comedy as “the most glorious words in the English Language.”
‘42nd Street’ is indeed a “Lullaby Of Broadway”.
