Turning Up The Volume This Autumn

Autumn 2021

We’re excited to announce our awesome Autumn theatre programme, buzzing with fun, culture, discovery and adventure.

This Autumn, families can join us to laugh out loud with award-winning poet Dommy B and his show of goblins, zombies, and mushy peas; Open their eyes to untold stories from inspiring black women in Aleiah’s Adventure across Manchester; Get lost in puppetry and dance inspired by Indian heritage in the magical tale of Sue & Sita; and learn everything there is to know about dinosaurs with Teach Rex in their fabulously interactive show.

Talking about the season, our Chief Executive, Liz O-Neill, said: “We have an incredible season for families at Z-arts this autumn, and we’ve lots to celebrate!  Not only are we opening the theatre again after 18 months, we’re also finally launching the comfiest new seats in our auditorium!

The season (and the seats) launch with a Z-arts family favourite – Dommy B’s Best Adventure Ever, which will get all our creative juices going, just in time for the new Bright Sparks participation programme.”

Alongside the theatre programme, we are also launching the Bright Sparks participation programme. From developing drama skills and playing the guitar to finding balance in a tree pose, Bright Sparks has a rich mix of creative activities to fire imaginations and inspire all young interests, from pre-school age to teens.

Liz continues: “Additionally this autumn is a chance to celebrate the artists and theatre makers we’ve supported through lockdown.  We’re excited to feature some great new work by emerging artists like Ros Norford, who brings us Aleiah’s Adventure and Ria Meeri Munshi’s Sue and Sita, a marvellous mix of live performance, puppetry, and a fusion of Indian and Manchester culture.”

Looking to later in the season, we will be celebrating our 21st birthday party with a Family Vogue Ball, which will joyfully celebrate individuality and identity through poses, dance and moves.

Following on, we will open our magical Christmas show, The Gift, a beautiful production for little ones to enjoy with their family.

Throughout autumn and into winter, families can explore the works of popular children’s author, Judith Kerr, in the immersive exhibition The Tiger Who Came To Tea, which will be shown until February 2022.

Liz said: “We look forward to warmly welcoming families on our doorstep in Hulme and from across the many communities of Greater Manchester to Z-arts this autumn. All the team at Z-arts is genuinely excited about the season ahead and we hope the programme entertains, inspires and unlocks the creativity of everyone who visits.”

We look forward to welcoming you to Z-arts very soon.
