South Manchester AOS presents
From their sell out production of ‘PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT’ in April this year, South Manchester AOS are back with their next endeavour:
‘A hilarious musical of the worst possible taste!’
Licensed by MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL (Europe)
Running Time Approx: 2hr 30mins including an interval
This stage musical version of ‘The Producers’ was adapted by Mel Brooks (from his own 1968 movie) which stormed Broadway in 2001 with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the lead roles.
In its first year it bagged a record-breaking twelve Tony Awards including Best Score, Best Book and Best Show.
It tells the unlikely story of down on his luck Broadway kingpin Max and his accountant Leo who come up with an ingenious plan to make a mint on Broadway.
They decide to produce the worst musical the world has ever seen, so when it inevitably flops they’ll be able to keep all the investors’ money and elope to Rio!
The book they find to render this scheme is a Nazi inspired play titled; ‘Springtime for Hitler’ which they adapt into a garish musical featuring an all-singing all-dancing Adolf accompanied by his harmonising throng.
Certain that their project will work, Max and Leo are horrified when their predicted flop becomes a hit!www.smaos.org.uk
