To celebrate Z-arts will be hosting the Big Imaginations Festival Fun Day. As well as discovering more about the fantastic shows on offer we’ll have a whole host of arts activities, workshops and storytelling happening throughout the day…and it’s all FREE! No booking required, just turn up!

Plus, you will be able to watch performances all the way from Brazil in Catapluf’s Musical Journey (booking required).

The festival will take place at 26 venues across the North West from Liverpool’s Royal Philharmonic Hall to libraries, village halls and schools. Find out more about the full, fantastic programme here.

Tales of Birbal – Puppet Making

Akin to the Aesop’s fables of the British folk tale culture,  the south Asian Tales of Birbal workshop of puppet making will introduce characters from this show, where the actors use puppetry as part of the storytelling.

Catapluf’s Musical Journey  – Paper Plater Shakers

This workshop will teach the simplicity of making musical instruments at home and ties in with the worldly music themes Catapluf’s musical journey, where shakers are common instrument used in Latin and African sounds.

Big Imaginations Jazz Club – Vegetable Orchestra

One of our Big Imaginations cultural ambassadors will be showing people how to make instruments with fruit and veg! Inspired by the BI Jazz club a vegetable orchestra will be formed featuring melons, carrots and peppers!

Big Imaginations –  Festival Bunting Workshop

Our very own visual artist Suzanne will be helping you make some colourful and creative bunting to get you into the festival mood.

Interactive Storytelling in the Igloo

Join Flick and bring to life characters that you know and discover new ones. We’ll also have colouring in activities for good measure, ensuring there is a diverse range of creative workshops for the families to get involved with.
