A sunny season packed with family fun makes Z-arts the place to be in Manchester this Summer!

Cheeky cats, glittery goodness and a dragonfly parade down Stretford Road form just part of Z-arts exciting summer programme…

Z-arts, 335 Stretford Road, Manchester, M15 5ZA

Grab your sunglasses, Z-arts has a dazzling programme lined up for the summer season! With two fantastic theatre shows, half term and summer holiday activities and classes every day of the week for Bright Sparks Members it’s easy to see why Z-arts are Manchester’s leading venue for children and families.

The theatre season kicks off on Sunday May 21. Are you ready? Grab a spoon! Because it’s Pat-a-cake time! Pitter-patter – get the butter! Based on Joyce Dunbar’s book, Long Nose Puppets offer up a marvellous moonlit show full of riotous rhyme, zany puppets and spiffy special cake; all iced with music and songs by Tom Gray. Little children will feel stuffed to the brim with magic after watching this fun packed show.

Next on the programme, Cbeebies’ Patrick Lynch stars in Lyngo Theatre’s Puss in Boots on Saturday 24 June. Using smoke and mirrors and hidden trapdoors audiences will see how this sure-footed feline fools both the King and the Ogre to put his master at the top. With a host of puppets, a working windmill and an avalanche of fruit and nuts, this classic furry tail is the cat’s whiskers!

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Ticketholders for all shows can take part in Art Cart, free family arts and crafts activities inspired by themes from the shows. Leave a little time before or after the show to get sticking, sketching, painting and creating and don’t be surprised if you leave the theatre looking a bit more glittery than when you arrived!

Alongside fabulous theatre, Z-arts have a jam-packed programme of events including a pyjama-tastic event with Manchester After Hours on Thursday 18 May and a Children’s Table Top Sale on Saturday 20 May.

Drop all your plans for Saturday 22 July because Hulme is the place to be. Hulme Is Where The Art Is will make Hulme a family-friendly hub of crafts, creativity and community collaboration. After daytime activities at Venture Arts and Hulme Community Garden Centre a dragonfly parade will brighten up the road from Birley Street leading to a musical extravaganza for all the family in the lovely surroundings of Hulme Park. Make your costumes and get down and dance along to live music for some first-rate family fun in the sun!

Kids stuck for something to do over the school holidays? Look no further. Z-arts’ Puss In Boots Drama Week in May half term will use drama, movement, script-writing, comedy and clowning to explore well-loved stories and allow children to make some modern classics of their own. Over the Summer Holidays Pop Up Play will give young people the chance to explore and make immersive performance and things will get moving and grooving again with Beat Street week at the end of August.

Z-arts summer programme of special events will conclude in August with a Tech Theatre Open Day for those aged 14+ who are interested in a career on the technical side of theatre. You’ll have a unique glimpse behind the scenes and have a go setting up and running a gig, covering everything needed for the event including lighting and sound projection and health and safety. Places are limited so if you fancy yourself as a lighting or sound designer of the future, book yours now!

Z-arts family membership programme continues to boom and welcome more members. Last year Z-arts expanded their programme after receiving funding from Children in Need. Amongst our offer are weekend dance and yoga classes as well as further dance classes within the week, drama classes including a special drama class Let’s Imagine for our tiniest members!

As well as all this Z-arts will continue with its newly expanded programme of classes for members. Bright Sparks is a membership scheme that supports creative learning for children and families, giving access to the Z-arts programme of activities all year round. New members can join online, over the phone or in person at the Box Office.

Z-arts look forward to welcoming you through their doors this summer. Give the friendly box office staff a call on 0161 232 6089 if you’re interested in finding out more about their jam-packed summer season!
