The trafficking of humans for modern day slavery is a major problem today, both in Europe and beyond. Despite shocking statistics, convictions for trafficking and slavery are rare. Victims too often remain voiceless with their stories concealed.
Transparent Truths exposes the individual lives behind this seedy world of exploitation through the power of live performance. Integrating physical theatre, animation and a haunting new score the piece is both beautiful and shocking.
Transparent Truths has grown out of research carried out by members of Collective Encounters’ youth theatre. In 2011, they decided to explore the experiences of young people growing up in poverty around the globe. This exploration led them to reading real-life testimonies from victims of slavery and uncovering a world of which they’d been previously unaware.
Transparent Truths is the story of young people living in poverty globally, told by young people, locally.
